Ventura County FC Falls to San Jose Earthquakes II in 3-1 Loss at Home

Ventura County FC was defeated by San Jose Earthquakes II by a score of 3-1 on Friday, May 1 at William Rolland Stadium.
The visitors got on the board first in the 15th minute with a top corner strike from outside the 18 by Gabriel Bracken Serra. The goals for San Jose kept coming in the first half with Tomo Allen heading one home from close range in the 38th minute and Bracken Serra tucking one home off a rebound in the 42nd minute.
HALFTIME: VCFC 0 – SJ 3
VCFC were solid defensively in the second half, managing to keep San Jose from scoring a fourth.
In the 60th minute, a flurry of chances opened up for VCFC. Riley Dalgado had his shot saved from close range. Arnau Vilamitjana collected the loose ball and crossed it to the back post. Issak Luna got a head to Vilamitjana’s cross, putting it just wide of the post.
VCFC finally broke through in the 84th minute, thanks to Sebastian Hernandez. Eric Preston skipped past his defender, putting in a low driven cross. The ball deflected and fell to Hernandez who fired it past the goalkeeper from just inside the 6 yard box. This was the first professional goal for Sebastian Hernandez.
VCFC kept up the pressure, but it proved too little too late.
