VCFC Extends Unbeaten Streak to Three Games

Thousand Oaks, California (September 9th, 2024) Dynamo’s Diego Gonzalez’s brace in the first half meant we would have another steep hill to climb in our pursuit of hosting a playoff game. Ruben Ramos Jr. put us back on track at the hour mark before Ifu Achara, on loan from Houston, evened things up in the 78th minute. VCFC claimed the extra point in the penalty shootout through Brady Scott’s heroics.

In the previous three away games, Ventura County FC have found themselves down by a one or two goal deficit in the second half. In each of those games, VCFC have returned home with at least a point. Going beyond that, the club’s last away loss came back in May against the Vancouver Whitecaps 2. Road warriors? Just maybe. This will be crucial for Matt Taylor’s team come October as they inch closer to playoffs.

Goal-Scoring Summary

Dynamo 2 – Diego Gonzalez, 15th minute: Gonzalez put the hosts up early through a well-placed penalty kick.

Dynamo 2 – Diego Gonzalez, 46th minute: Gonzalez intercepted a backward pass from Tchouante to put him through 1 on 1 with Scott to double their lead just before half.

VCFC – Ruben Ramos Jr., 59th minute: Achara brought the ball down from a Karani cross and found Ramos Jr. as he buried his chance with a left footed curler at the far post.

VCFC – Ifu Achara, 78th minute: After a flick from Hope Avayevu, Achara set himself up for a bicycle kick against his former side.
