Winning Streak

Following a successful road trip to Houston, VCFC will be back home for the first time since July 31st. In their last match away at Houston Dynamo 2 on August 14th, VCFC took home all 3 points in a 2-0 victory to make it their 4th straight win since July 18th. As playoffs get closer and closer, VCFC will look to secure a top 4 spot in the West and bring the playoffs to Thousand Oaks.

Friday’s victory over Houston marked VCFC’s second win over the Texas side this season. Gabriel Arnold scored his 2nd goal of the season with a brilliant free kick from just outside the box. Arnold’s first goal of the season was also against Houston. Luis Müller has been showing no signs of slowing down since returning to VCFC. The German forward scored for a 3rd straight game to extend VCFC’s lead to two.

VCFC’s backline has been outstanding in their 4 straight victories, conceding only once. With the new addition of Palmer Bank, who made his professional debut against Houston, the VCFC defense is only getting stronger.

VCFC currently sits at 4th in the West with 41 points and a record of 11 wins, 6 losses, and 5 draws.

Portland Timbers 2 are on a hot streak of their own. Since June 27th, they haven’t lost in 7 games. Portland is also the second team in the West to clinch a spot in the playoffs this season.

Portland’s last game was against North Texas SC on August 15th. Portland won 3-0 with three different goal scorers: Daniel Cervantes, Eric Iziota, and Max Kissel.
