In their second meet up this season, Ventura County FC fell to Tacoma Defiance 1-0 at Starfire Sports Complex. 

Tacoma took the lead in the 19th minute off a Yu Tsukanome goal. Tacoma collected the ball at the halfway line, charging ahead on a counter attack. Rafael Jauregui laid off the ball to Tsukanome, who rounded the goalkeeper Sebastian Conlon to open up the scoring.

VCFC maintained possession for the majority of the first half, but couldn’t find an equalizer. Julian Placias nearly made it a tie game in the 36th minute. Eric Preston crossed the ball to Placias who hit it on the half volley. The cross bar denied Placias, keeping it a 1 goal game in favor of Tacoma.

HALFTIME: VCFC 0 – TAC 1

Despite dominating possession for the majority of the second half, VCFC just couldn’t come up with the equalizer. Tsukanome’s goal for Tacoma was enough to secure a victory for the home side.
