Match Preview: VCFC vs STL CITY 2 | April 13th, 2025

Keeping the Intensity

After claiming all three points last weekend over Real Monarchs, VCFC return home to Thousand Oaks with an opportunity to go top of the Western Conference table with a victory over the visiting side. County will have to match the physicality of STL and keep the intensity they’ve played with at home this season. VCFC hasn’t lost a regular season game at home this year.

Luis Mueller has had a serious impact since joining the team in the winter. He has 5 goal contributions (3 goals, 2 assists) in just 4 games. He’ll be looking to continue his form against a side that leads the league with clean sheets.

About the Opponent

After a hot start to the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Regular Season, STL CITY 2 haven’t scored a goal in their previous two matches, both coming at home against Rapids 2 and Austin FC II.

2025 MLS Super Draft pick Emil Jääskeläinen really impressed scouts around the country after an incredible redshirt senior season for Akron last fall. The striker scored 23 goals and assisted an additional 8. Jääskeläinen’s numbers haven’t quite translated at the next level, but his pace and quality in the box will be a threat for the County back line.
